Beaver Park Reservoir (widely known as Beaver Lake)

Welcome to the Area

The mountains surrounding Beaver Park Reservoir offer some of Colorado's finest public recreation opportunities. Nearby U.S. Forest Service lands provide excellent access for hiking, camping, fishing, off-highway travel, and destinations such as the Coney Flats Trailhead.

We encourage everyone to enjoy these remarkable public lands.

Please Note

Beaver Park Reservoir is not one of those public recreation areas.

American Legion Post 32 has maintained Beaver Park Reservoir as a private, members-only veteran recreation area serving veterans and their families since 1953. Access is restricted to authorized members, their families, and invited guests.

Although Beaver Park Reservoir is widely known locally as Beaver Lake and may appear on maps, recreation websites, GPS applications, or social media, it is not open to the public and should not be considered a destination for fishing, boating, paddling, swimming, camping, shoreline access, or any other recreational activity.

A Request from Our Veterans

Most people who inadvertently enter the property do so because they have relied on inaccurate or outdated online information. We appreciate your understanding and your help in sharing accurate information with others.

There are thousands of acres of beautiful public lands surrounding Beaver Park Reservoir to explore. We simply ask that this small piece of Colorado be left to those for whom it was created: Veterans.

Thank you for helping preserve one of Colorado's oldest Veteran Recreation Areas and for respecting those who have served our nation.

No Public Access

The Forest Service road remains open for travel to public destinations, including the Coney Flats Trailhead, but the land on both sides of the road is private property.  Public recreation ends where Post 32 property begins.

There is no public access to:

• Beaver Park Reservoir (Beaver Lake)

• The shoreline

• The river below the dam

• The dam and spillway

• Roads within the recreation area

• Docks, campsites, buildings, and all other Post 32 facilities

Activities Not Permitted

• No trespassing

• No fishing

• No hunting or trapping

• No boating, paddling, or swimming

• No camping

• No parking

• No entry onto the property for any recreational purpose

Please also observe the following:

• Do not camp or park on exposed portions of the lakebed during periods of low water. Even when dry, the lakebed remains private property.

• Do not park on the dam or spillway. These areas are part of the reservoir's watershed and water-control infrastructure and must remain clear for operational, environmental, and public safety reasons.

• Please remain on designated public roads and National Forest lands while traveling through the area.

Unauthorized entry constitutes trespassing and may be subject to enforcement under applicable Colorado law.
